This is the second biggest prize in the history of American lottery, after more than 3 months without a major winner.
Powerball said that the two lucky tickets - one sold in Missouri, the other in Texas - matched all 6 numbers in the draw on September 6.
The winning numbers in the recent lottery round are: 11, 23, 44, 61, 62 and 17.
The two lucky money winners can choose to receive a one-time cash payment of $410.3 million or receive $893.5 million divided equally among 30 annual payments, with each payment increasing by 5% compared to the previous year.
The draw on September 6 is the 42nd since the last time the Powerball grand final had a winner on May 31 in California. The current series of lottery spins has leveled the record for consecutive spins without a single winner.
With final ticket sales, the grand prize reached 1.787 billion USD, according to Powerball.
The probability of winning a grand prize is 1 out of 292.2 million, while the overall probability of winning any prize is 1 out of 24.9.
