On April 9 (local time), President Donald Trump signed a decree requesting Energy Secretary Chris Wright to remove federal regulations limiting water pressure in lotus hoses, which have been applied since the previous administrations of President Barack Obama and President Joe Biden.
Mr. Trump said that the old regulation weakens the water flow, forcing him to bathe longer and affecting the hair he is always proud of.
Speaking at the signing of the decree in the Oval Office, Mr. Trump said: I like bathing in lotus Notes and taking care of my beautiful hair. I had to stand under a lotus pond for about 15 minutes to have my hair wet. The water kept flowing in small drops. It's funny.
The decree accompanying the statement from the White House said that this action is aimed at eliminating over-management, which is said to be "stalling the economy, consolidating the bureaucracy and suppressing personal freedoms".
Since 1992, US federal law stipulates that each lotus tanna is only allowed to spray a maximum of 9.5 liters of water per minute. With the development of spray-pcked lotus hoses, the Trump administration has tightened regulations, forcing the total amount of water sprayed from all hoses not to exceed the limit of 9.5 liters/minute.
The Trump administration during its first term adjusted the regulation in August 2020, allowing a maximum of 9.5 liters of water per lotus tanna per minute. However, the Biden administration reversed that change in July 2021.
Mr. Trump has long criticized bathroom water-saving policies. In 2020, outside the White House, he once said: "I don't know what your hair is like, but I want my hair to be perfect."
Recently, at an event in Detroit in June 2024, he continued to express his dissatisfaction: I went swimming, I wanted my beautiful hair to be covered in foam. I took out the best shampoo and massage it all over my head. After that, I opened the lotus pond and the water almost died in drops. I couldn't wash my hair with soap. It was terrible.
The signing of this decree comes in the context of Mr. Trump facing many issues related to trade policies and tariffs, but still deciding to act according to one of the priorities with a strong personal touch.
