Thailand is preparing to hold a 5-day funeral for King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who passed away last year at the age of 88.

Thai people gathered on the streets of Bangkok early to attend the funeral of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The funeral is expected to attract about 250,000 Thai people to watch live in the capital Bangkok.

The Thai king's funeral is estimated to be worth 90 million USD. Since King Bhumibol passed away in October 2016 after a long illness, his body has been placed in the royal palace in Bangkok.

King Bhumibol Adulyadej is the longest reigning monarch in the history of the Kingdom of Thailand, having been crowned in 1946 at the age of 18 and ruled for 7 decades. During that time, he reversed the fate of the monarchy, regaining the respect of the people of this country.
