On August 7, local time, CNN reported that a source said Hezbollah is increasingly close to the possibility of attacking Israel, regardless of Iran's intentions.
This organization is moving faster than Iran and is planning to attack Israel in the coming days. Meanwhile, many officials told CNN that Iran appears to be still seeking a response. A U.S. military official said Iran has carried out some (but not all) of the preparations that the U.S. had expected before a major attack on Israel.
According to a second intelligence source, due to Lebanon's location near the north of Israel, Hezbollah may act with very little or no prior warning. This person added that it is still unclear whether Iran and Hezbollah, the strongest proxy force in the country, are coordinating to carry out the attack or not. Some officials believe that the two sides may not be entirely in agreement on how to proceed.
The upcoming attacks are a response by Hezbollah to the assassination of high-ranking official Fuad Shukr. Following that, Israel is believed to have assassinated political leader Ismail Haniyeh. Israel has neither confirmed nor denied the information.
After the incident, countries around the world are closely monitoring this region. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has convened an emergency meeting at the level of foreign ministers to address the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine. The meeting, held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, has issued a final draft "condemning Israel's actions" and reaffirming solidarity with Palestine.
In addition, OIC condemned the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh. OIC holds Israel responsible for this action, calling it "a crime and a violation of international law." At the same time, OIC warns that such actions by Israel will undermine regional security and stability.
