At the regular press conference on the afternoon of March 5, the Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs answered a number of questions related to the situation in the Middle East.

Regarding the situation of Vietnamese people in war zones in particular and the Middle East in general, as well as the plan to protect and evacuate citizens back home, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said: "According to information from Vietnamese agencies in the Middle East region, there are currently more than 12,000 Vietnamese citizens living, studying and working. To date, the situation of Vietnamese citizens in this region is basically stable and no information has been recorded that citizens are affected by conflicts.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has closely coordinated with relevant agencies in the country, along with Vietnamese representative agencies in Iran, Israel and neighboring countries to closely monitor related developments, maintain regular contact with the Vietnamese community in the host country, and work specifically with local functional agencies to support Vietnamese citizens, including Vietnamese citizens traveling on transit, delegations whose flights are canceled in areas closed by airspace, advise citizens to ensure safety and provide emergency contact points, proactively deploy citizen protection work, and prepare plans to evacuate citizens when necessary. In case of emergency or in case of difficulty, Vietnamese citizens should contact citizen protection hotlines.

Also at the press conference, when sharing about Vietnam's measures to ensure trade, economy and energy security in the country in the context of tensions in the Middle East, Ms. Pham Thu Hang said that the Ministry of Industry and Trade has issued a document proposing a number of recommendations to minimize the impact of conflict in this region.

Domestic agencies are also continuing to closely monitor the situation, promptly update developments in the region to exchange with associations, and at the same time study strengthening cooperation with international organizations to proactively respond to similar situations in the future.

On March 4, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 385 QD/TTg establishing a working group to ensure energy security in the face of the complex developments of the conflict in the Middle East.

As a member of the working group, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs closely coordinates with ministries, branches and relevant agencies to effectively implement assigned tasks, in order to ensure energy security in the current context," Ms. Pham Thu Hang said.

When asked about Vietnam's efforts to reduce tensions as a member of the Peace Council in the Gaza Strip, the Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Vietnam's position on the tense situation in the Middle East was clearly stated in two statements by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on February 28 and March 3. Vietnam's position on becoming a founding member of the Peace Council in the Gaza Strip was also affirmed on January 29.

Vietnam welcomes all efforts to bring sustainable peace to the Gaza Strip, for the benefit of the Palestinian people and on the basis of respecting international law and the United Nations Charter. In that spirit, Vietnam supports the peace plan on ending the conflict in the Gaza Strip that was approved by the United Nations Security Council in Resolution 2803 dated November 17, 2025 and has accepted the invitation to join the Peace Council" - Ms. Pham Thu Hang emphasized.
