Lebanese state media on March 11 reported that Israel attacked an apartment building in central Beirut, marking the 2nd airstrike on the city in recent days.
According to sources from Lebanon, the attack occurred as Israel continued its air strike campaign in many areas of the country. The Israeli military has not commented immediately after the above information and there has been no official report of casualties from the incident.
Previously, an airstrike in Beirut on March 8 killed 5 members of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Lebanon was further drawn into the regional conflict after Iranian-backed Hezbollah opened fire on Israel and declared actions in response to the assassination of Iran's supreme leader.
Since then, Israel has conducted many airstrikes in southern and eastern Lebanon, as well as the southern suburbs of Beirut. The Lebanese Ministry of Health said these attacks have killed nearly 500 people, including more than 80 children.
The attacks took place amid widespread fighting between the US, Israel and Iran in the Middle East. The two sides continued to carry out airstrikes targeting targets in Israel, Lebanon and the Gulf region as the conflict entered its 12th day.
Regional tensions also affect important shipping routes. The Strait of Hormuz, which transports about 20% of global fossil fuel sources, is disrupted due to war.
United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations said a cargo ship was hit by an unidentified object in the Strait of Hormuz, causing a fire on the ship and forcing the crew to evacuate. Another container ship off the coast of the United Arab Emirates also reported damage due to an object suspected to be artillery shells.
Meanwhile, Iranian armed forces spokesman Abolfazl Shekarchi called on countries in the region and the Muslim community to support identifying the positions of the US and Israel in order to increase the accuracy of Iranian attacks.
At the same time, many Israelis had to go to shelters after the country's army warned Iran to launch missiles towards Israel.
