According to CBS News, Mr. Donald Trump signed the first documents as the 47th president of the United States at the Capitol immediately after taking office, establishing the cabinet and appointing temporary leadership positions of departments and agencies.
Upon arriving at the Oval Office at the White House after 7 p.m. on January 20, the first executive order that Donald Trump signed at the White House was a comprehensive pardon for about 1,500 people involved in the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Mr. Trump said that there were 6 cases that were not fully pardoned because they were pending review. Mr. Trump also signed an executive order on the evening of January 20 asking the Department of Justice not to enforce the law banning TikTok within 75 days. While this ban was supposed to take effect on January 19.
Trump signed several more executive orders before arriving at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC, including a call for federal workers to return to work full-time immediately, a freeze on all federal hiring, except for the military and a few other exceptions. He also signed a directive to every department and agency in the federal government to address inflation.
Trump also signed an executive order withdrawing the United States from the Paris climate agreement. He said the United States would save $1 trillion by withdrawing from the agreement.
