The video is believed to be from a vehicle carrying security forces following the black sedan carrying Igor Dodon. Through the video, it can be seen the convoy of vehicles traveling at high speed on a narrow road while the vehicles moving are slowing down.
However, a white truck in the opposite direction of the convoy moved at high speed and was hit by another car in the same lane when the truck was seeking to rise. Therefore, the truck deviated from the lane and collided with the Moldova's car.
According to RT, it appears that the presidential driver has sought to avoid a direct crash from the truck and the car plunged into a ditch next to the road. The security car then crashed into the truck and the video was stopped from there.
The car accident occurred near the city of Straseni on September 9, a police spokesman confirmed. The incident occurred as Dodon was traveling from the capital Chisinau to the western city of Ungheni.
The president's car overturned after the accident, the source told Unimedia. Video of the accident scene shows 2 black cars in a ditch near the road, one of which overturned. Meanwhile, a truck with a broken cabin was also parked nearby. The truck is believed to be owned by a poultry farm.
" prcs. Igor Dodon is fine and does not need medical treatment," Dodon Maxim Lebedinschi's adviser wrote on Facebook.
A member of Igor Dodon's security team told Tass that the president was not harmed at all but that his mother was injured in the accident. Two presidential security personnel were also taken to the hospital.
Igor Dodon, 43, has been Moldova's president since 2016, having previously been Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy.
