According to the Independent, when the online meeting started at 8am and lasted up to 5 hours, board member Bernardo Bustillo at Torrelavega in Cantabria, northern Spain, began to worry that he would not have enough time to bathe, then take his daughter to an activity at school.
To save time, Mr. Bustillo decided to take a bath while the online meeting was taking place and bring a laptop into the bathroom.
Mr Bustillo shrunk the meeting screen and mistakenly thought that this could help him avoid being recorded by a computer camera. Unfortunately, the images of Mr. Bustillo soaking behind the blurred glass were all captured.
Other council members who attended the meeting tried their best to call Mr. Bustillo's phone, but the sound of water overwhelmed everything.
"What you say, let him go, quickly", the Mayor impatiently said. "Can't we break up with him or do something? ", others advised.
Finally, Mr. Bustillo appeared completely naked after bathing, seemingly feeling something, he quickly avoided the camera's camera angles.
However, according to the 20 Minutos news agency, the meeting is being broadcast live on local television and the incident was witnessed by some residents.
In a statement after the incident, Mr. Bustillo resigned and said: "With the nature of my job (a part-time swimming teacher), I have spent half of my life in the clouds and have never felt ashamed of the reality of others or myself. I believe it does not constitute a criminal, unethical or dishonest act, beyond my misconception that the camera has been disconnected."
Mr. Bustillo said he was "completely calm" about the incident, because recently, more online meetings due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic have also led to similar situations in working groups.
At the end of the statement, Mr. Bustillo also thanked everyone who took the time to call or text him about the incident.
