The journalist posted a video sharing an additional statement from Air India saying that the airline is no longer involved in this aircraft.
The statement stated: "This is an abandoned Air India aircraft that has been sold. This aircraft was transported by the new owner last night. Air India has no further contact with this aircraft under any circumstances."
"The plane was definitely not part of the Delhi airport fleet," Delhi airport officials told the Times of India, adding that the driver "could have made a mistake while transporting it."
The video of the plane stuck under the bridge has attracted thousands of views on Twitter and YouTube. Many social media users expressed their wonder why the plane could be stuck under the bridge. Some netizens have commented that before transporting the plane, drivers should have checked the route carefully.
When the video went viral, some Twitter users reported that the plane had been stuck under the bridge for several days.
Plane crashes under bridges have occurred in India before. A similar incident is believed to have occurred in the state of West Bengal in December 2019 when an old Air India plane was also stranded under the bridge.
The incident occurred in West Bengal, India, involving an old Boeing B737 traveling on National Highway 2, between Durgapur city and Paschim Bardhaman district of the state.
In October 2019, an old Airbus A320 aircraft was also stranded while being transported in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China. To avoid the problem of being stuck, the driver blew off the truck tires to have enough space to move the crashed plane out of the bridge.
Plane crashes also occurred in Indonesia when a Gatotkaca N250 phage- controlling civil servant aircraft crashed at a toll station when taken to the Central Museum of the Indonesian Air Force in Yogyakarta Province. To help the plane escape the incident, toll station staff assisted the truck driver to retreat from the station.
