ABC News reported that the incident occurred at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on the evening of October 5 local time.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in an aviation incident report that the Airbus 321 carrying 197 people was flying from San Diego to Las Vegas when the crew reported smoke in the cockpit.
Despite the incident, the pilots landed safely, after which the fire brigade extinguished a fire in one of the engines.
Mobile phone video showed flames and smoke billowing from under the plane as it landed on the runway. Fire trucks and other ambulances rushed onto the runway, while smoke from the fire still surrounded the plane.
"Frontier Flight 1326 made a hard landing," an airport spokesperson confirmed to CBS News. "The Clark County Fire Department responded immediately. All passengers and crew were safely evacuated to the gate area. No injuries were reported."
Frontier Airlines also wrote on social media X that "there were no casualties and passengers were taken to the terminal by bus".
The US Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
