US pledges $500,000 aid after severe floods in Nepal

The US has decided to provide $500,000 in aid to Nepal to overcome the consequences of flash floods and landslides in northern Nepal.

According to AFP, the US State Department said that the US government on August 26 (local time) sent condolences for the damage caused by floods in Nepal and pledged emergency aid of 500,000 USD.

This agency also sent deep condolences and encouragement to the families of the victims killed in the serious flash flood in Rasuwa district, Nepal.

In addition, the US will send a disaster response advisor to the region.

In a message posted on social network X, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed solidarity and sent words of sympathy to the people of Nepal after the serious flood.

The flash flood that occurred on the morning of August 26 in northern Nepal caused extremely catastrophic consequences. According to initial data, the flood column was formed by a landslide with rocks near the Nepal - China border area, about 20km northeast of the Rasuwagadhi border gate.

As of the morning of August 27, Nepal police said they had found 157 bodies after the flood, bringing the total death toll to at least 160, along with hundreds of people still missing.

More than 3,300 police officers have been mobilized for search and rescue work.
