On March 3, according to an anonymous source collected by The Wall Street Journal, the US has stopped funding new arms contracts with Ukraine and is considering freezing the transportation of weapons from US reserves.
According to Axios, US President Donald Trump is scheduled to hold a meeting on Ukraine on the afternoon of March 3 (local time), which includes the possibility of suspending military aid.
The meeting is expected to be attended by Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and a number of other senior officials.
The Washington Post also quoted an unnamed US official as saying that President Trump will discuss the possibility of ending military aid to Ukraine and the Washington administration is considering ending intelligence sharing and training for Kiev soldiers and pilots.
On March 2, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky admitted that a peace deal with Russia is currently not possible or as he said it was still a long way off. He also expressed hope for continuing to receive aid from the US despite the fierce debate with President Trump at the White House on February 28.
According to Mr. Zelensky, the US is the "leader of a civilized world" and stopping the supply of weapons to Ukraine only brings an advantage to Russia. W Washington will not help Russian President Vladimir Putin, he said.
Speaking on Truth Social, President Trump said Zelensky's statement was the worst statement the Ukrainian leader could make, warning Washington not to continue accepting the situation. Mr. Trump affirmed that as long as he is supported by the US, Kiev will not really want peace.
Speaking to Fox News over the weekend, US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz noted US borders, including aspects such as budget, patience and arsenal. Mr. Waltz also criticized the Ukrainian president for refusing to negotiate peace.
Also over the weekend, US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick revealed to Fox News that at the Oval Office meeting, President Trump made it clear to Zelensky that any future financial support from the US depends on Ukraine's readiness to conduct peace negotiations with Russia.
