On February 22, the US officially put the entire northeast region on red alert as a snowstorm carrying enormous destructive power is coming.
According to the latest weather news from the FOX Weather Center, this extreme weather phenomenon will directly affect about 50 million people living along the corridor of the key I-95 highway, leading to widespread stagnation.
More than 7,000 domestic and international flights have been urgently canceled as of February 22 as severe weather conditions cover the area from Delaware to Massachusetts.
The initial state of emergency declared in New York and New Jersey has now spread to a series of neighboring states including Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Maryland. Meanwhile, the highest level of snowstorm warnings has been issued to more than 38 million people in bustling megacities such as New York, Boston and Providence.
The most frightening point of this storm is the terrible intensity of a low pressure system formed off the coast of North Carolina. The air pressure is forecast to drop to 40 millibars in just 24 hours, nearly double the standard threshold of the "bomb storm" phenomenon.

This explosive development will create thick snowfalls from 30cm to over 60cm, with record plumes that can reach 10cm per hour at some hotspots.
Besides the huge amount of snow, strong gusts of wind up to more than 110 km/h are expected to sweep through the Long Island area and southeastern New England. The tornado and heavy snow complex not only completely destroys traffic visibility but also threatens to collapse the power grid of millions of households.
Meteorological experts warn that travel conditions on the road will become impossible and directly threaten human lives. Serious coastal flooding with water levels rising nearly 1m is also putting areas from Delaware to Maine in danger.
Faced with this destructive power, a series of federal highways in New Jersey and New York have been completely blocked by a strict travel ban.
The NJ Transit public transport system also announced the suspension of all operations. To ensure absolute safety, the governments of the two megacities of New York and Boston have decided to close the entire public school system, urging people to hold onto their homes to overcome the most devastating storm-stricken period.
