US attacks city with Iranian nuclear power plant

US attacks have hit many locations in the city where the country's only civilian nuclear power plant is located.

On July 20, US attacks hit many locations in the port city of Bushehr in southern Iran, where the country's only civilian nuclear power plant is located, AFP reported.

A few minutes ago, many locations in the city of Bushehr were hit by bullets from the US enemy," said Bushehr Governor Mohammad Mozaffari, according to the official state news agency IRNA.

Washington launched its 9th consecutive airstrike, amid an increase in the death toll of US troops, raising concerns about a new spiral of violence in the Middle East.

According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the new attack began on the evening of July 19 (local time) to further weaken Iran's military capabilities, especially forces accused of threatening the shipping line through the Strait of Hormuz. This is the 9th consecutive night of airstrikes since the operation resumed.

This development occurred after another US soldier was killed in Iraq while handling a downed unmanned aerial vehicle, bringing the total number of US soldiers killed in the conflict to at least 17 people. Previously, 2 other soldiers were killed in Jordan, while one missing case is being verified.

Observers believe that the back-and-forth attacks between the two sides are expanding in scale and territory, as Iran increases retaliatory strikes in many countries with US military presence in the region. The increasing casualties and prolonged airstrikes show that the risk of widespread conflict is still present, while diplomatic efforts are almost deadlocked.
