The Russian Ambassador said that contact is taking place both directly and through the Russian Embassy in Havana and the Cuban Embassy in Moscow.

Russia is assessing potential options to support Cuba, the parties are conducting discussions at various levels, Russian Ambassador to Havana Viktor Koronelli said in an interview with Rossiya-24 television channel.

Communication is taking place both directly and through our Embassy in Havana and the Cuban Embassy in Moscow. We are exploring options and possibilities to provide aid to Cuba," the Russian diplomat said.

Previously, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, in an interview with TASS, reaffirmed Russia's solidarity with Cuba. He said that Russia will provide aid to Cuba, including material assistance, and added that this work has been carried out.

We are determined to stand side by side with Cuba and will support this country, including material assistance. This support has been and is being carried out," Mr. Ryabkov declared.

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister clarified that Russia is in a position to provide practical support and emphasized that, although there is no prospect of immediate coordinated action in the BRICS alliance, many options are still feasible depending on the developments of the situation.

Currently, our support continues on a separate basis. As a close partner and ally, Russia, along with other BRICS members who have close relations with Havana, including China, are doing everything within their capabilities," Mr. Ryabkov explained.

The US has extended the Cuba blockade and imposed sanctions on all fuel sources as well as announced plans to impose import tariffs on countries supplying fuel to Cuba. Despite these measures, the Russian Embassy in Havana announced that Moscow will soon begin supplying oil and petroleum products to Havana as humanitarian aid.
