Russia promotes gold mining, production continues to break through

New data from Rosstat shows that Russia's mining industry continued to record growth in gold production in the first half of 2026.

On July 29 (local time), the Russian Federal Statistical Service (Rosstat) said that the country's unprocessed and semi-finished gold production, including powdered gold, in the first 6 months of 2026 increased by 4.2% compared to the same period last year.

According to TASS news agency, in June alone, Russia's gold production increased by 3.6% compared to the same period in 2025 and increased by 7.4% compared to the previous month. This result shows that Russia's gold mining and processing activities continue to maintain an upward trend in recent months.

Besides gold, Rosstat also announced data on silver production. Accordingly, unprocessed and semi-finished silver production, including powdered silver, decreased by 20.5% in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period last year.

However, if considering June alone, silver production recorded positive signals when increasing by 11% compared to the same period in 2025 and also increasing by 11% compared to May 2026. This shows that silver production activities have improved in the short term, although overall in the first half of the year it is still lower than the same period.

In addition to finished gold, Rosstat said that the output of gold-containing refined ore also continued to increase. In the first 6 months of 2026, the output of this item increased by 6.5% compared to the same period last year.

In June alone, the production of gold-containing concentrate increased by 8.4% compared to the same period in 2025 and increased by 34.3% compared to the previous month. This increase reflects that gold ore mining and processing activities continue to be promoted in many mining areas of Russia.

Russia is currently one of the largest gold producers in the world, and also possesses significant gold reserves. The mining industry, especially the exploitation of precious metals, continues to play an important role in the country's economy and contribute significantly to mineral exports.

The latest data from Rosstat shows that Russia's gold production continued to maintain its upward momentum in 2026, while gold refined ore production also recorded a fairly high increase. In the opposite direction, silver production in the first 6 months of the year still decreased compared to the same period last year, although there were signs of recovery in June.

Production developments of precious metals will continue to be monitored in the last months of the year, as international market demand and domestic mining activities may affect the production results of the Russian mining industry.
