On November 25, the Russian Defense Ministry said it had conducted multiple coordinated attacks on key Ukrainian military and dual-use infrastructure, including airports and energy facilities.
The attack involved tactical aircraft, various types of drones, missiles and artillery.
In addition to airports and energy facilities used to supply "enterprises of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex", some 138 Ukrainian military sites used to assemble troops and equipment in the rear were also attacked, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
While the Russian military did not specify the exact targets, Ukrainian media reported that Kiev, the southern port city of Odessa, the eastern city of Kharkov, and several other locations were affected.
According to Ukrainian estimates, the attack involved more than 100 Geran-2 suicide drones.
The new attack comes as both sides appear to have stepped up long-range strikes on each other. Kiev’s recent use of long-range missile systems, such as the US ATACMS and the UK Storm Shadow, has prompted Moscow to use its brand new Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missile.
The Oreshnik hypersonic missile was tested in combat last week and was used in a surprise attack on Yuzhmash, a vast Soviet-era factory located in the city of Dnepropetrovsk (known as Dnipro in Ukraine).
Before the conflict, the plant mainly produced aircraft engines and missile components, and has been actively used by Kiev recently to refurbish and repair military equipment.
