On February 22, Russia officially launched a series of new generation military equipment manufactured by state-owned technology corporation Rostec, right before the anniversary of National Defense Day.
The event immediately attracted special attention from international observers when Moscow focused on showing off 8 completely new unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), carrying many multi-tasking combat technologies capable of turning the tide of war.
At this defense industry exhibition, Rostec displayed a total of more than 140 diverse products serving the front lines. Items range from combat uniforms, military motorcycles, ammunition to aircraft interception systems.
However, the biggest highlight and attracting the most attention is still tactical UAV systems, especially vertical take-off aircraft.
Rostec General Director Sergey Chemezov shared that the purpose of the event is to gather and showcase all the most superior products being used in the special military operation area. From the famous Uralvagonzavod tank, heavy armored vehicles to the smallest infantry equipment, all are displayed to prove the autonomy of the domestic defense industry.
Assessing the fierce nature of the current conflict - which experts have dubbed the "war of unmanned aerial vehicles", Mr. Chemezov emphasized that the group has placed absolute focus on the development of UAVs. The eight latest aircraft models have a very diverse design, including fixed-wing aircraft, vertical take-off aircraft, 4-propeller equipment to multi-axis equipment, flexibly using both electric and internal combustion engines.
According to Rostec, these weapons are researched and manufactured by Kalashnikov Group, Rosel Joint Stock Company and many other affiliated arms enterprises. These are all refined versions that have been mass-produced or are being prepared to be put on a large-scale assembly line to meet the huge demand from the front lines.
The development of unmanned systems is currently considered a vital priority for this giant weapons corporation. Rostec's factories are constantly increasing capacity, expanding product portfolios and moving towards self-manufacturing all key components of UAVs, including controllers, secure communication systems and electric motors.
The head of the corporation also proudly affirmed that more than 10 types of Moscow drones are being operated extremely effectively, helping the military detect and successfully destroy thousands of enemy targets.
