President Vladimir Putin has just concluded a 2-day official visit to China. The Russian leader told Chinese President Xi Jinping that he plans to attend the APEC summit in Shenzhen on November 18-19.
President Donald Trump, who visited China last week, is said to have signaled that he intends to attend this event.
Our leader has confirmed that he will attend the APEC conference. I think that, in any case, if both leaders are present in China, they are likely to meet and have some exchange" - Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov shared on May 20.
The Russian Presidential Assistant added, "to date, this has not been agreed upon, but if that prospect exists, it is unlikely that either side will refuse.
Previously, the summit between Mr. Putin and Mr. Trump in Alaska, USA took place in August 2025. This is the first and only direct meeting between Russian and US leaders since the Ukraine conflict broke out in 2022.
Mr. Trump also left open the possibility of visiting Russia this year. Sharing with the press last week, he said he would "do anything necessary" to support promoting a solution to the Ukraine conflict in the context of direct negotiations between Moscow and Kiev backed by Washington falling into deadlock. The Kremlin said that Mr. Putin is ready to welcome Mr. Trump.
