TASS quoted Russian state-owned nuclear power corporation Rosatom General Director Alexey Likhachev as saying that Rosatom may begin bringing experts back to Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant from mid-July, if the security situation around the plant continues to stabilize.
The situation around Bushehr is in a stable state. If these conditions do not change, Rosatom will gradually restore its personnel at the plant from mid-July," he said on the sidelines of the Innoprom forum.
The plan and procedure to bring Russian experts back to Iran's nuclear power plant have been coordinated with security agencies.
Previously, on June 17, Mr. Likhachev affirmed that the Bushehr project is still Rosatom's priority and the return of personnel will be implemented as soon as the risk of the plant being attacked is assessed to have been minimized.
Mr. Likhachev affirmed that Rosatom is closely monitoring negotiations between Iran and the US, and maintaining contact with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). According to him, the issue of Iran and the Bushehr nuclear power plant is expected to be discussed in a working session with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi on July 10.
He said that Rosatom is likely to take on a specific role in the process of resolving the Iranian nuclear issue. However, the Russian nuclear corporation does not put pressure on the parties to make a decision soon.
However, it is certain that the construction of units 2 and 3 of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant cannot be completed without us," Mr. Likhachev affirmed.
Also in the sharing, Mr. Likhachev said that Rosatom acknowledges the interest of the new government in Hungary in clarifying the parameters of the Paks-2 nuclear power plant construction project and is ready to conduct exchanges.
Rosatom is waiting for official signals from Hungary to start working sessions at all levels, from ministers to prime ministers. The Group has sent an official request on this issue.
