The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) agreement on Iran is causing discomfort for many parties and they are taking advantage of the non-existent nuclear threat from Tehran to serve their own interests, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov shared in an interview with TASS news agency.
According to Mr. Ryabkov, the 2015 nuclear agreement has in fact resolved previous concerns of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) regarding Tehran, while establishing an unprecedentedly deep and strict monitoring mechanism, thereby ensuring the credibility that there is no risk of nuclear weapons proliferation.
Of course, such a mechanism has become a significant barrier for all parties benefiting from the unreal nuclear threat from Iran," he said.
According to the Russian diplomat, time will tell how realistic the possibility of reaching a comprehensive agreement in the spirit of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is.
The practice of JCPOA has clearly shown that, with sufficient diplomatic goodwill, agreements can still be reached on issues that seemed impossible to resolve," the senior Russian diplomat emphasized.
Also in an interview with TASS on May 20, referring to the nuclear issue in Europe, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov noted: "European Union leaders are clearly considering the intention to achieve nuclear status. Finland is considering methods of transporting nuclear weapons through its territory.
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister added: "Poland is taking reckless and damaging actions against the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), acknowledging its nuclear ambition.
