According to Circular 50/2025/TT-BCT, from June 1, unleaded gasoline according to current national technical regulations will have to be blended and mixed into E10 bio-gasoline for use in gasoline engines nationwide. E5 RON 92 gasoline will continue to be produced and traded until the end of 2030.
This is considered an important step in the energy transition strategy, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and promoting the use of environmentally friendly fuels in Vietnam.
Before this roadmap, Vietnam National Petroleum Group has implemented the conversion of E10 bio-gasoline business throughout the system. According to the company's announcement, from the end of April, Petrolimex gas stations have started selling E10 gasoline; by May 15, coverage reached about 80% of stores and the conversion is expected to be completed by May 20.
Reporters' records on May 20 in Hanoi show that many Petrolimex gas stations have completely switched to trading E10 gasoline. At Petrolimex Petrol Station No. 14 on Thuy Khue Street (Hanoi), customers can currently only buy E10 bio-gasoline.

As one of the first customers to experience the new fuel, Mr. Pham Van Dinh (Tay Ho district, Hanoi) said: "I happened to pass by and saw the store announce that it only sells E10 gasoline. I also want to try to see how economical and environmentally friendly this new type of gasoline is. The current price of E10 gasoline is also lower than some old gasoline lines, so I am quite excited.
Meanwhile, Mr. Duong Van Thang (Ba Dinh district, Hanoi) shared: "Initially, I thought E10 gasoline would be more expensive. However, after filling, the price is more superior. I hope this will be a fuel that both helps protect the environment and saves costs for people.
According to Mr. Thang, about half a month ago, he filled the E10 fuel tank for his personal car and initially had a positive experience. "Although more time is needed to evaluate more objectively, for now I see the car operating quite stably" - Mr. Thang said.
To keep up with the conversion schedule, employees at Petrolimex Petroleum Store No. 14 have sold all the old gasoline, and at the same time dredged the tanks to convert from RON 95-V gasoline to E10 bio-gasoline.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Anh - Store Manager of Petrolimex Petroleum Store No. 14 - said that the number of customers coming to refuel on the morning of May 20th remained stable as usual and most customers supported the policy of conversion. According to him, E10 gasoline not only contributes to reducing emissions into the environment but also supports ensuring national energy security.

Participating in this morning's shift, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Ninh, a store employee, said that in the morning shift, many customers expressed questions when the store switched to selling completely E10 gasoline. "After being explained that this is RON 95-V gasoline mixed with 10% bioethanol, which helps reduce emissions and save energy, most people agreed and supported it" - Ms. Ninh said.
However, the conversion to completely trading E10 bio-gasoline throughout the Vietnam National Petroleum Group system is not yet complete. According to records, some large-scale gas stations with many tanks and large areas need more time to handle techniques, dredge tanks and synchronously convert to E10 gasoline.
