French officials show disrespect for their own people when accusing Russia of being linked to the wildfires in this country, said Russia's Permanent Representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mr. Mikhail Ulyanov, according to TASS on August 10.
Some French officials and journalists believe that Russia is somehow involved in large-scale wildfires in France. They simply do not respect their own people," Mr. Mikhail Ulyanov wrote on X.
A wildfire broke out fiercely and spread quickly in southern France on August 9, forcing people to evacuate as 220 firefighters urgently tried to control the fire.
About 220 firefighters from Lozère and surrounding areas were mobilized, with the support of 4 Canadair firefighters and 1 Dash aircraft.
Wildfires in Europe, especially in Spain and France, have reached record levels this year. The European Commission previously said that 13 aircraft, 4 helicopters and hundreds of firefighters from across the European Union were mobilized to support firefighting through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
