Russian official: Western aid weapons do not help Ukraine change the situation

A Russian official said that a strategy based on modern weapons aided by the West does not help Ukraine change the course of the conflict.

On August 6 (local time), according to TASS news agency, the Governor of Kherson province appointed by Russia, Mr. Vladimir Saldo, said that the Ukrainian government's bet on "miraculous weapons" aided by the West has not yielded the expected results, as Russia has continuously adapted and found countermeasures.

According to him, weapons that Ukraine once placed high hopes on include Javelin anti-tank missiles, HIMARS high-mobility rocket launcher systems, long-range missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and NATO standard training programs.

Kiev has bet on the miracles of technology and Western standards. First they believe in Javelin, then HIMARS, then long-range missiles, drones and NATO training programs. Russia has found a way to deal with all of that, has adapted and continues to become stronger," Mr. Saldo said.

The head of the Kherson government appointed by Russia said that Russian forces have continuously adjusted tactics, developed new combat measures and built capabilities to deal with modern weapons, causing the advantage that Kiev expects from Western military aid packages to gradually decrease.

However, Mr. Saldo also shared that this does not mean that Ukraine is ready to stop fighting or lay down its arms.

TASS noted that this is an assessment from Russian officials. Meanwhile, Ukraine and Western countries have repeatedly affirmed that military aid packages still play an important role in strengthening Kiev's defense capabilities, while helping this country maintain its combat capability against Russian attacks.

4 years since the conflict broke out, both Russia and Ukraine continue to promote the use of high-tech weapons, from UAVs, long-range missiles to electronic warfare systems. The two sides also regularly declare that they have developed measures to neutralize or reduce the effectiveness of weapons deployed by the enemy on the battlefield.
