The Russian Ministry of Defense said on August 9 that the Southern Combat Group controlled Vasyutinskoye after active combat operations, while the Central Combat Group controlled Toretskoye. These are all residential areas in the Donetsk region, eastern Ukraine.
The Russian side's report also said that Ukraine lost about 1,445 troops in the area where the special military operation took place in the previous 24 hours due to the operation of Russian combat clusters.
More specifically, Russia said that Ukraine lost up to 285 soldiers in the area in charge of the Northern Operations Group, more than 210 soldiers in the area of the Western Operations Group, 190 soldiers in the area of the Southern Operations Group and more than 345 soldiers in the area of the Central Operations Group.
Also according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, Ukraine lost up to 370 troops in the area in charge of the Eastern Combat Group and more than 45 troops in the area of the Dnepr Combat Group.
In addition, the statement revealed that Russia also attacked Ukrainian military facilities and shot down 970 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the previous 24 hours.
Tactical and combat aircraft, attack UAVs, missile and artillery forces of Russia attacked 164 targets, including 1 military airport, facilities belonging to the fuel, energy and transportation infrastructure systems used by the Ukrainian army, along with temporary gathering areas of Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries.
Russian Geran UAV crews destroyed 1 Ukrainian UAV control headquarters and 1 logistics center in Sumy province.
Russian air defense forces also shot down 10 guided bombs and 4 US-made HIMARS missiles along with 970 fixed-wing UAVs.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, since the conflict broke out, Russian forces have destroyed 673 aircraft, 284 helicopters, 201,891 UAVs, 669 air defense missile systems, 30,506 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,769 combat vehicles of multiple launch rocket systems, 36,100 field artillery and mortars, and 68,795 specialized military vehicles of the Ukrainian army.
