According to RT, Russia accused Ukraine of being behind the Crimea attack on the evening of September 21, which killed civilians and increased tensions.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that the resort that was attacked by UAVs did not have a military facility. The top Crimean official appointed by Russia, Sergei Actionsov, said at least three people were killed and 16 were injured. A nearby school was also damaged, while UAV debris caused a fire in an abandoned area near the city of Yalta.
Some sources quoted by The Kyiv Independent said that at the time of the incident, there were very important guests staying at the Foros resort. The official website of this area even announced the closure of the restaurant to serve special guests.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called the incident a terrorist act and stressed that Moscow would take appropriate retaliatory steps. Meanwhile, Ukraine has not commented on the accusation.
Crimea has repeatedly become a target of UAV and missile attacks since Russia launched its military campaign in Ukraine. Ukrainian military intelligence had previously said it had destroyed three Mi-8 helicopters and a Russian radar station in the area. The UAV fracture also caused a fire at a transformer station in the Krasnodar region, but did not cause any casualties.
