Russia launches unprecedented UAVs into Ukraine

Russia launched 267 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) into Ukraine, setting a new record just three years before the conflict in Ukraine.

According to the Ukrainian air force, Russia launched 267 drones into Ukraine on the night of February 22, local time. This was the largest attack in the three-year conflict.

Russian drone and missile attacks have been going on every night for months. But the 267 drones on the night of February 22 were the largest attack ever, breaking the previous record of 193 drones in the attack in December 2024.

The Ukrainian air force said it shot down 138 drones attacking Shahed and 119 others that disappeared while flying. The Ukrainian Air Force also said that 3 drones have flown into Belarus.

The areas of Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Poltava, Kiev and Zaporizhzhia were affected in the latest Russian attack.

On social network X, President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that the fighting is still ongoing. "We must do everything possible to bring long-term peace and justice to Ukraine," he said.

The record Russian UAV attack came right before the 3rd anniversary of the conflict in Ukraine. Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

Currently, the administration of US President Donald Trump seeks a peace deal through direct talks with the group of Russian President Vladimir Putin but without the participation of Ukraine.

President Zelensky has warned that Kiev will not accept any peace agreement signed without the country's participation.

Meanwhile, Ukraine continues its long-range offensive. The Russian Defense Ministry reported on February 23 that it had shot down 40 Ukrainian drones in the previous 24 hours.
