Russia has resumed attacks on Kiev after a 3-day ceasefire agreement to serve the visit to the Ukrainian capital by US special envoys expired, the Ukrainian Emergency Situation Agency announced on the evening of September 7.
According to AFP, Russian President Vladimir Putin previously ordered a 3-day suspension of attacks on Kiev, when two special envoys of US President Donald Trump, Mr. Steve Witkoff and Mr. Jared Kushner, visited the capitals of Russia and Ukraine on the weekend.
The Russian side attacked the Boryspil and Fastiv districts with drones," the Ukrainian Emergency Situations Agency posted on Telegram on September 8.
The military government of Kiev city said that an air defense alert had been issued in the capital due to the risk of being attacked by "enemy" drones, and called on people to go to shelters.
Russian state news agency TASS previously confirmed that the period of suspension of the attack had expired.
For her part, US special envoy Witkoff assessed that discussions with Ukraine and Russia have made progress, opening up prospects for restoring trilateral peace talks to end the conflict.
