NATO accuses of tightening military surroundings around the border

Russia has accused NATO of choosing to openly confront and sabotage European security by increasing its military presence near the Russian border.

On October 28, speaking at a meeting of the First Committee on the withdrawal of troops of the United Nations General Assembly, Deputy Head of the Russian delegation Konstantinvorontsov said that NATO countries have chosen a path of public confrontation with Russia. According to him, this policy is weakening the European security foundation.

" NATO countries have embarked on a practical roadmap to openly confront Russia. As a result, we are witnessing the erosion of the European security foundation,"vorontsov said.

vorontsov accused NATO of continuing to send troops and weapons close to the Russian border. He mentioned the increased strength of NATO units in the Baltic countries, the Black Sea and Poland, the extension of the combat period of NATO warships in the Black Sea, and the increase in intelligence activities of this alliance near the Russian border.

Mr.vorontsov affirmed that Russia has always tried to resolve issues through dialogue and diplomacy. However, harsh anti-Russian policies and public disregard for Russia's legitimate interests (especially security interests) from the West have led to the current tense situation.

Notably, vorontsov also made a surprising accusation targeting the US's European allies. He said the US is facing "blatant sabotage from Europeans" in its efforts to address the Ukrainian issue. He argued that while Russia was blamed for not wanting to end the conflict, it was the EU countries that were the side that were looking to prolong the conflict.

The Russian official reaffirmed the importance of international treaties on arms control and military withdrawal to world security. However, he concluded that it was the Western policies in recent times that seriously weakened the system of these important agreements.

This statement follows recent criticism of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who has also accused NATO of violating its security commitments by constantly expanding to the East.
