TASS reported that on February 10, Deputy Head of the Military-Political Department of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Apty Alaudinov, said that Ukraine has suffered heavy losses since the start of fighting in Kursk province in August 2024.
According to Mr. Alaudinov, the majority of the Ukrainian army has withdrawn from Kursk or been eliminated. However, the commander said that Kiev is constantly replenishing its troops and special forces.
Mr. Alaudinov mentioned encounters with foreign soldiers whom he called “foreign legion gunmen,” and claimed that Russian soldiers had largely won many battles with these forces.
The Russian Ministry of Defense continued to inform that after about 6 months of fighting in Kursk, Ukraine lost more than 58,000 soldiers.
Russia has repeatedly condemned the involvement of mercenaries in the conflict and warned that foreign fighters are considered legitimate military targets on the battlefield.
Also on February 10, Russian Ambassador to the United Nations, Mr. Vassily Nebenzia, once again reiterated similar warnings in the context of some Western countries planning to establish a peacekeeping force in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, according to RT, Ukraine has been actively recruiting foreign soldiers recently to cope with the severe shortage of troops and difficulty in recruiting.
According to AP, in Ukraine, any soldier, regardless of nationality, can receive a monthly salary of up to $3,300, depending on rank and mission. They can also receive compensation of up to $28,660 if injured, depending on the severity. If they die in action, their families will receive $400,000 in compensation.
