Residents of Suwayda province, Syria expressed their joy at being liberated from IS by allowing Syrian President Bashar Assad to take on the role at an official reception.

According to Sputnik, President Bashar al-Assad met with Syrians and their families who were liberated from IS on November 13.

In the video clip released by Al-Watan, some people urged Mr. Assad to step in.

The Syrian army recently released a group of 19 women and children kidnapped by IS in an attack in the province last July, Syrian state television reported on November 15.
