Bushehr nuclear power plant attacked 3 times in 10 days

The Bushehr nuclear power plant has become a new hotspot in the US-Israel and Iran conflict.

Israel and the US attacked the premises of the Bushehr nuclear power plant for the 3rd time since February 28, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) announced on social network X on March 28.

An object fell into the area near the nuclear power plant, but there were no reports of casualties, damage or technical incidents" - the statement stated.

AEOI emphasized, "attacks on civilian nuclear infrastructure violate all norms of international law and threaten regional security.

The Bushehr nuclear power plant area was first attacked on March 17, and the second attack took place on March 24.

Iran has notified the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of these incidents.

IAEA has been informed by Iran about a new attack in the Bushehr nuclear power plant area, this is the 3rd incident in 10 days. No damage has been recorded to the operating reactor, nor has there been a radiation leak; the plant's condition is still normal, according to the Iranian side" - IAEA said.

IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi once again expressed "deep concern" about reports of military activity near nuclear power plants, warning that this " could cause serious radiation incidents if the reactor is damaged".

Mr. Grossi called on all parties to "exercise maximum restraint" to avoid nuclear safety risks in the context of conflict.

On March 27, Russia said it had raised the issue of nuclear safety threats related to attacks near the Bushehr plant in closed-door consultations at the United Nations Security Council.

The Permanent Mission of Russia to the United Nations informed on Telegram: "According to Russia's initiative, the Security Council has held closed-door consultations on the humanitarian consequences of the current crisis in the Middle East due to the attacks by the US and Israel on Iran".

The Russian side has released data on many casualties with Iranian civilians, destroyed civilian infrastructure as well as attacks targeting educational institutions. We also pay special attention to the threats to nuclear safety and nuclear physical security due to attacks taking place near the Bushehr plant. We condemn attacks on civilian infrastructure in all countries in the region," the statement emphasized.
