Iran's customs agency said the blast on April 26 occurred at the Sina container yard in the port city of Bandar Abbas. The blast occurred more than 1,000 km south of the capital Tehran.
At least 47 people were injured in the latest explosion in Iran, according to Tasnim news agency.
Mehrdad Hassanzadeh, director of the Hormozgan Provincial crisis management organization, told Iranian state television that the injured had been transferred to medical facilities.
Earlier, Hormozgan Esmaeil Malekizadeh, a civil servant with the Department of Maritime and Port Authority, said the explosion occurred near Shahid Rajaee port.
Social media videos showed a giant column of black smoke rising from the blast site.
Other videos on social media also showed many damaged buildings and vehicles. Many people were also seen in the area around the scene to take care of the injured and check for property damage.
Shahid Rajaei Port mainly handles container transportation, including oil tanks and other petrochemical facilities.
