The phone call lasted nearly 1 hour, revolving around key issues such as the Ukrainian conflict, the Middle East situation and the prospects for Russia-US cooperation in the fields of energy and space, and notably the proposal to exchange films that promote traditional values.
According to Russian presidential assistant Yury Ushakov, this was a long and frank phone call between the two leaders, demonstrating the multifaceted consistency in their approach to global issues.
President Donald Trump opened the call by announcing: The US Congress has passed a big and beautiful bill One Big Beautiful Bill - a key initiative of his administration, including tax reform, immigration and energy. Mr. Putin congratulated his counterpart and sent his congratulations on the National Day of the United States (July 4).
Notably, Russia stressed its historical role in the formation of modern America - from the War of Independence 250 years ago to the end of the American Civil War 160 years ago, as well as its allies in the two World wars.
A surprising yet iconic detail was revealed: President Putin said that right before the call, he had met with representatives of the Russian business community. In particular, there is a proposal to organize a film exchange program to honor traditional values - which is considered in line with the viewpoint of the Trump administration. Mr. Trump responded positively immediately.
Regarding international issues, both leaders expressed concern about the tense situation in the Middle East, especially around Iran. Russia has stressed the importance of political and diplomatic solutions, rather than military confrontation. The two sides agreed to maintain close communication between diplomatic missions, defense agencies and the presidential office on regional issues.
On Syria, the phone call also mentioned new developments, with a commitment to continue dialogue to seek a stable path.
The issue of Ukraine continues to be a focus. President Trump has once again called for an early end to the war. In response, Mr. Putin informed about the progress in the humanitarian agreements reached in the second round of direct talks between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul.
Russia insists it will continue to pursue negotiations, but will not abandon its set goals, including eliminating the root causes of the current conflict.
Although geopolitical tensions have not cooled down, the two sides still show goodwill to promote cooperation in promising areas such as energy and space. These are areas that have witnessed notable Russia-US coordination programs in the past, despite political differences.
Assistant Ushakov concluded: The phone call clearly shows that the two Presidents understand each other. It was a frank, substantial and constructive dialogue. The two leaders will continue to stay in touch and have further exchanges in the coming time".
