Pilot drives aircraft for 16 years without valid license

Canadian police said that a former Air Canada pilot has been charged with flying a plane for many years without a valid license.

Mr. Geoffrey Wall (in Barrie, Ontario) is accused of operating as captain of Air Canada from 2009 to 2025 without a license to operate a large commercial passenger plane, according to Peel police.

This pilot has made more than 900 domestic and international flights without the necessary permit.

Air Canada informed that Mr. Wall (59 years old) has a valid commercial pilot license but has been promoted to captain despite not having the necessary air transport pilot license.

Air Canada airline said that Geoffrey Wall was suspended from work as soon as it was discovered that he did not have a suitable license and the incident was voluntarily reported to the Canadian Department of Transportation. This pilot is no longer working for Air Canada.

Police said that irregularities were detected during the file review process. The Canadian Department of Transportation contacted the police earlier this year.

Air Canada affirmed that safety was not affected and a pilot audit of the airline did not find any other violations. The airline declined to comment further due to information security laws and ongoing criminal investigations.
