Delta Air Lines flight number 2809 from Minneapolis to San Francisco, USA on July 26 was delayed due to heavy fog in the Gulf of Mexico, limiting visibility. The plane then landed safely and arrived at the landing location nearly 10 minutes later than expected.
Before passengers were allowed to leave the Boeing 757, about 10 federal agents, including staff from the US Department of Homeland Security and some aviation security officers (under the US Transportation Security Administration TSA) did not move to the front cabin of the plane, a passenger recounted.
"A group of people wearing badges, guns and uniforms from many different agencies jostled down the path to the cockpit," the passenger said.
The agents seized a flight vice pilot. To date, the identity of this vice-chair has not been announced.
The other pilot on the flight also expressed surprise when he saw his colleague being arrested by the authorities.
Local media said the deputy was arrested on charges related to child sexual abuse, but authorities have not confirmed any of this information.
Delta Air Lines noted that all questions related to the incident will be forwarded to law enforcement.
