A pilot refused to take off and land in the cockpit of a plane in Mexico City, Mexico on December 19 to express his opposition to not being paid.
This plane will not take off until they pay us what they owe us, the pilot told dozens of passengers on a commercial flight, according to a video released by local media, including Reform newspaper.
The pilot said that his employer owed him 5 months of salary and travel expenses.
I feel sorry for you because you didnt deserve to suffer this. I have worked for this airline for nearly 3 years and I have never failed to complete a flight" - the pilot told the passenger. The pilot also said that he had 3 children.
Officials at Mexico City's Benito Juarez International Airport posted on social media platform X that aviation authorities are investigating an incident that occurred at around 3 p.m. on December 19 on a flight scheduled to Cancun, a northeastern Mexico tourist city.
According to Mexican media, the pilot was arrested while the passengers were evacuated.
