The helicopter carrying Iranian Sports Minister Hamid Sajjadi and more than a dozen others crashed in southern Iran on February 23, killing one person and causing Sajjadi to suffer a brain hemorrhage, IRNA news agency reported.
The victim was Esmail Ahmadi, an advisor to Sports Minister Hamid Sajjadi. Mr. Sajjadi was transferred to the hospital for treatment.
IRNA quoted a witness as saying the helicopter crashed while preparing to land at the Baft Sports Complex, a small city in Kerman province.

According to Governor Kerman, Mr. Mohammad-Mehdi Fadakar, the cause of the accident is being investigated.
In January, the European Union (EU) imposed sanctions on Sajjadi over Tehran's suppression of protests following the death of a Iranian woman Kurd Mahsa Amini after being detained by police in September.
Mr. Sajjadi is a former long-distance runner who represented Iran at the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics.
