Previously, this person had made very surprising moves towards the new regime in Syria such as meeting the head of this new regime during a trip to the Gulf region and invited that person to visit the US.
It can be seen that Mr. Trump has been proactive in pursuing other policies in Syria very early after the regime of Syrian President Bashir al-Assad was replaced by a new one. That is to take advantage of and attract a new regime right from the early days of this regime and right from the time Mr. Trump and his colleagues were not really sure that this regime would be pro-US, not becoming a challenge to the interests and security of the US.
So the US quickly had such high-level contacts, and lifted such urgent sanctions on Syria. The ban on Syrian citizens entering the US is only a temporary decision that has helped Mr. Trump create a strong decisive image after several shootings in the US.
Mr. Trump accepted all risks to the US from the new regime in Syria to gamble big on the interests and influence of the US in the Middle East and the Gulf.
The political change in Syria creates a new power vacuum in the Middle East and the Gulf region in the context of the entire region increasing chaos, insecurity and instability due to Israel's war with many sides, because the US and Israel are at war with Iran.
Mr Trump wants the US to fill that void with three goals. The first is to turn Syria into a new partner that benefits the US in the region. Second, do not let the new regime in Syria lean towards Russia and Iran, and persuade Syria to normalise diplomatic relations with Israel. Third, stabilize Syria so that the US can withdraw all its troops from the country.
The new regime in Syria seems to be taking advantage of Mr. Trump. But at present, no one can know what this political system will be like after having firmly established power and being confident enough to fully reveal the true nature of the political system. Therefore, gambling for Mr. Trump's benefits and great influence on Syria also has many risks.
