RT reported that on April 13, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will take place.
According to Peskov, both presidents expressed their desire to organize a summit publicly, but did not reveal a specific time. He emphasized that the meeting will take place "at an appropriate time" and note that this event requires careful preparation.
Peskov's statement was made after the meeting between President Putin and President Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff in St. Petersburg (Russia) on April 12. According to the Kremlin, during the meeting, the two sides discussed aspects related to the settlement of Ukraine conflicts.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Mr. Witkoff's visit was part of Trump's broader effort to promote a ceasefire agreement. "This is another step forward in the negotiation process" - Ms. Leavitt said.

Not long ago, Putin also appointed the Russian president's adviser, Kirill Dmitriev, to the United States to discuss with some senior officials in Trump's administration.
In March, Putin and Mr. Trump had a phone call lasting more than 2 hours. During the exchange, Mr. Trump proposed a 30 -day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, including the end of each other's energy infrastructure attacks. Putin expressed his support for this initiative and issued a corresponding directive for the Russian army.
During the phone, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to a "sustainable peace" instead of a temporary solution for conflicts in Ukraine.
Moscow's side emphasizes the need to eliminate the root causes of the crisis, meet Russia's legitimate security benefits, and require complete termination of military aid and providing intelligence for Kiev - conditions that are considered key to reach an agreement.
