According to Daily Mail, Space Perspective is a startup founded by Poynter and Taber McCallum in 2020. They are the co-founder of World View - a company that deploys sensors attached to balloons to take photos of the space.
The company will use a huge "space airspace" to move 8 passengers to the airspace at the same time. It will be launched by the Neptune spacecraft as large as a football field. The entire trip from launching to the atmosphere to landing will take a total of 6 hours, with 2 hours for the atmosphere.
The company said that passengers will arrive at the launch site a few days before the flight to visit the facilities. During the flight, they will be served breakfast, can order drinks and rest on soft seats. In addition, there is wifi inside the compartment that allows live broadcasting.
Passengers can also see with their own eyes the 360-degree view of the Earth when inside the sleeping compartment with a bathroom and bar.
Space Perspective plans to make about 25 flights in its first year of operation and 100 flights per location per year. The company said it had sold 25 tickets in the first hour of opening for sale, and that early sale tickets for the first three flights - which are expected to take off in 2024 - were also sold out.
Space Perspective may have reached an important milestone, but this is not the first company to bring tourists to space, with Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin and Elon Musk's SpaceX leading the way.
However, Poynter said Space Perspective does not compete with Blue Origin or SpaceX, because they provide a different experience: "We don't take people into space on a rocket ship, without rigorous training and just a few minutes to observe through the window. Our customers will have a comfortable experience like being on a plane".
