An official in the port city of Mokha, Yemen said that the coast guard rescued all the sailors of the Indian-flagged cargo ship after the ship sank in the Red Sea, AFP reported.
According to officials in Mokha, all 14 crew members of the MSV Faize Noore Oliya ship, including 13 Indian citizens and 1 Yemeni citizen, were safely rescued after the ship was attacked in the waters south of the port city of Hodeida.
The Yemeni government is internationally recognized for accusing Iranian-backed Houthi forces of being behind the attack.
Last month, the Houthi declared a blockade of Saudi Arabia's maritime activities in the Red Sea. Since then, this force has claimed responsibility for carrying out many attacks targeting oil tankers and energy infrastructure.
Indian Minister of Maritime Transport Sarbananda Sonowal informed that the ship was "hit by a warhead while operating near Yemen's waters".
India strongly condemns this unwarranted attack," he emphasized.
According to the Indian Ministry of Transport, the country is one of the largest suppliers of marine crew members in the world, with more than 320,000 sailors working on commercial ships as of 2025.
Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal declared: "Assaults on commercial ships in the area must stop".
