Indian Ambassador moved by the sincere feelings of the Vietnamese people

On July 15, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters, Politburo Member, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung received Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Tshering Sherpa.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung once again expressed his deepest condolences on the tourist boat accident that occurred on July 11 in the sea area of An Giang province; conveyed sincere condolences to the Government, people of India and especially the families of the victims.

The Minister shared that Vietnamese leaders are particularly concerned about the incident, have sent condolences to Indian leaders and directed functional agencies to urgently coordinate closely with the Indian side and deploy all measures to search and rescue, treat the injured, support relatives and bring the bodies of the victims back to the country.

The Minister highly appreciated the effective coordination of Indian representative agencies in Vietnam in the process of handling the incident, and emphasized that Vietnamese functional agencies are urgently investigating the cause of the accident, strictly handling violations if any, and strengthening safety regulations to prevent similar incidents.

Ambassador Tshering Sherpa respectfully thanked the attention, sharing and timely support of the Party, State, Government of Vietnam, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, An Giang Provincial Government and Vietnamese functional agencies right from the time the accident occurred.

The Ambassador said that with the close and effective support of Vietnamese agencies, all the bodies of the victims have been brought back to their hometowns for families and relatives to take care of funeral arrangements according to customs, and the injured have also been carefully cared for and gradually recovered.

The Ambassador expressed his emotion at the sincere feelings of the Vietnamese people; emphasizing that the condolences, encouragement and sincere sharing have added strength for the Government, people of India and relatives of the victims to overcome this great loss.

Minister Le Hoai Trung emphasized that this close friendship is a precious asset of the two nations, the foundation for the Vietnam - India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to continue to develop steadily.

The Minister thanked the close coordination of the Indian Embassy in implementing the results of the State visit to India in May by General Secretary and President To Lam, and requested the two sides to coordinate to comprehensively, effectively and on schedule implement high-level agreements, periodically review and promptly handle difficulties and obstacles, and bring the Comprehensive and Strengthened Strategic Partnership framework to continue to be effective and substantive.
