A cargo ship reported being hit by an unidentified strange object off the coast of Oman, the UK Maritime Trade Enforcement Agency (UKMTO) said on the evening of August 3 (local time).
According to a UKMTO recommendation, the incident occurred earlier on August 3, in waters about 20 nautical miles northeast of Al Khasab, Oman, near the eastern entrance to the Strait of Hormuz.
UKMTO said it received a report from military authorities at 10 pm on August 3. The cargo ship informed via VHF radio that it was hit by an unidentified object, the warning stated.
UKMTO recommends that ships moving through the area be cautious and report any suspicious activities to the agency.
As tensions between the US and Iran escalated in recent weeks, the UKMTO recorded a series of maritime security incidents, mostly occurring off the coast of Oman near the Strait of Hormuz.
