Two traffic police officers and another person were killed in an explosion in southern Moscow, according to the Russian Investigative Committee released on December 24.
The explosion occurred on the night of December 23 and early morning of December 24 when two police were trying to arrest a suspect.
An explosive device was detonated as officers approached the suspect at the time he was near the police officer's vehicle, the Russian Investigative Committee said in a statement.
Notably, the explosion occurred near the site of an assassination of a Russian general earlier this week.
On the morning of December 22, an explosive device exploded on a vehicle carrying Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov - head of the combat training department under the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.
Many reports said that Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov suffered "multiple wounds from shrapnel" and "broken faces" and was taken to the hospital before being declared dead.
In addition to the Russian general's car, seven other cars were also affected and damaged in the blast.
