A 15-year-old boy named Muhannad Eid died in central Gaza after being hit by a relief shipment. According to his brother, Muhannad ran towards the heavy sacks that were released even though they were in Nuseirat when a sack pressed on them.
The video posted on social media recorded many large packages falling down in front of the ruins of buildings, while the crowd tried to approach. The body, believed to be that of Muhannad, was then pulled from the cargo and taken away.
Previously, in March 2024, five Palestinians were killed when aid was not released, causing the goods to fall freely. The US and Jordan had participated in the relief relief relief at that time but denied being involved in the deaths.
The United Nations and many relief organizations have criticized road releases as inexpensive, providing little food and posing a potential risk of death. These organizations called on Israel to open roads for trucks to bring goods to Gaza to prevent hunger that threatens 2.2 million people, most of whom have to be relocated.
According to the United Nations, more than 1,300 people have died while trying to receive relief goods since the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF) began operating in May 2025, most of whom have been shot near distribution points. Israel has denied applying hunger policies and believes Hamas can end the crisis by surrendering, while accusing Hamas and other groups of being behind many murders.
Muhannad's death comes as at least 18 people have been killed across Gaza on the same day, including six people accused of being victims of Israeli fire fighting near a delivery point in central Gaza, injuring 30 others. Other airstrikes in the area also caused additional casualties.
More than 61,000 Palestinians have been killed since Israel launched the offensive, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. The United Nations believes that these figures are reliable but do not distinguish between civilians and war invalids. Despite increased international pressure, the Israeli security cabinet has approved a plan to take control of the city of Gaza, aiming to occupy the entire Gaza Strip.
