Reports that the Qatari State proposed 12 billion USD for Iran to ensure the signing of the agreement are completely unfounded and are being spread by parties seeking to sabotage the agreement, while weakening diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote stability in the region" - Qatar Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al Ansari emphasized on social platform X.
The spokesman emphasized: "Qatar's diplomatic role, in coordination with regional partners, has been firmly established and publicly recognized. Such accusations are just desperate efforts to tarnish Qatar's reputation as a reliable international peace mediator.
This response was made in the context of some senior Iranian officials visiting Qatar, promoting diplomatic efforts to complete the peace agreement.
According to Iranian media, Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Abdolnaser Hemmati arrived in Qatar earlier this week. The visit comes after a Qatari delegation's trip to Tehran last week to discuss Iran's frozen assets.
Iran is seeking to release frozen assets abroad, including assets in Qatar, within the framework of peace talks mediated by Pakistan. Reports estimate that the total amount frozen in Qatar is about 12 billion USD.
