RT reported that on January 22, US President Donald Trump issued a warning with the implication of an "ultimatum" to Moscow, urging the country to end the Ukrainian conflict and reach a "deal", otherwise it will face new sanctions and high import tariffs.
On the Truth Social platform, Donald Trump affirmed his “love” for the Russian people and emphasized that he “does not want to hurt Russia.”
Donald Trump recalled Russia's role in World War II: "We must never forget that Russia helped us win World War II," but did not forget to warn: "Stop right now, and end this senseless war! Otherwise, things will only get worse."
President Trump declared that if Russia does not reach a deal, he will have no choice but to impose “massive tariffs, embargoes and sanctions on all goods Russia sells to the United States and other countries.”
The US president also stressed that the Russia-Ukraine conflict “would never happen” if he were in office. President Trump once again affirmed his willingness to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, emphasizing the “strong understanding” between the two in the past. When asked exactly when the meeting might take place, Trump replied “anytime they want to — I’ll meet.”
Russia was cautious but also expressed goodwill with Mr. Trump's intention to resume dialogue, as long as the negotiations were conducted on the basis of "equality and mutual respect" - President Putin announced at a meeting of the Russian National Security Council.
