RT reported that on May 25, US President Donald Trump said that President Volodymyr Zelensky's public statements are only making the situation in Ukraine worse.
In a post on the social network Truth Social, President Trump said that Zelensky was the one who made diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine more difficult.
According to Mr. Trump, every time Mr. Zelensky speaks, it makes things more complicated. Mr. Trump even said that "Mr. Zelensky does not help the country by speaking like that. I don't like it, I should stop."
The US president also affirmed that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine could not have occurred if he had remained in office.
Mr Trump's comments came after Mr Zelensky publicly criticized Western allies, including the US, for superficial reactions to Russia's recent large-scale road attack.
Mr. Zelensky said that the continuous silence of the US and many countries in the world has created conditions for Russia to put more pressure on many fronts, and at the same time called on its allies to increase pressure and sanctions against Moscow.
According to RT, the controversy between the two leaders comes amid the escalating conflict in Eastern Europe, as Russia accused Ukraine of continuously launching airstrikes with hundreds of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from May 19 to May 23.
According to Russian air defense commander Yury dashkin, Ukraine even launched a UAV attack while President Vladimir Putin visited Russia's Kursk province last week.
In response to Ukraine's serious aggressive move, the Russian Foreign Ministry said the country would take appropriate retaliatory action, saying that Kiev's airstrikes were hindering peace negotiations between the two countries.
The Russian Defense Ministry later said it had successfully attacked a UAV and missile factory in Kiev, along with a surveillance radar center and a patriot air defense system provided by the US. Russia insists its attacks were not aimed at civilians.
